This describes my experience holding my cat on my lap until I felt the tremor of the end. I have no doubt that it was the right thing for her and for me.
I've had pets all of my 55 years of life, and so have had to assist several across the rainbow bridge (i.e. euthanasia when they could no longer independently perform the normal functions of eating, drinking, walking, relieving themselves, etc). I've often wondered if "interrupting" the natural death process via euthanasia (because we always hear it's the "humane" thing to do to relieve their "suffering") is in fact the right thing to do.
I am 67 now, and have had to say "see you on the other side" to many of my best friends, animal and human. This is a wonderful way to view the "walk home".

Thank you Ruth for sharing what you had experience.
To be there until ones last breath is the kind or way of parting we prefer. ❤️
